Review of Hyde Park on Hudson (2012) by Ian G — 11 Sep 2012
A decent character piece focusing on the visit that helped warm the relations between the States and the UK prior to the start of the second world war, particularly the Edward/FDR relationship and perchant for FDR's being a bit of a philanderer.
Bill Murray is very solid as the president and is surrounded by great character players, and the locations are beautifully shot. If anything the glasses are slightly rose tinted and the punches seemed slightly pulled for the women FDR was keeping with, but otherwise was an alright period piece that would work well with the Kings Speech.
