Review of Hyde Park on Hudson (2012) by Bill E — 03 Feb 2013
I'm a little shocked at the tremendous number of negative reviews for this movie. While the spectacle of Bill Murray as FDR is the undeniable draw, and frankly hard to get past, I really did enjoy this footnote in history.
I thought the portrayal of the king and queen was well done. It put a human face on royalty, and the unpretentiousness of FDR was very cool. This is what it is - a fun moment to reflect on in history, a story that I was unaware of (FDR's philandering), and the time was worthwhile.
I'd love to see more dramatic portrayals of FDR.
