Review of Hyde Park on Hudson (2012) by Denise B — 06 Feb 2013
Hyde Park gets off to a slow start, and I thought: OK, it's off to a slow start. Unfortunately, the pace didn't pick up -- at all. However, there were two scenes where someone raised a voice, but even one of those was imaginary.
Was it a film about Daisy? Or Franklin? Or the idiotically portrayed King and Queen of England? (The British might want to object through diplomatic channels.).
The casting of Hick, Eleanor, and Queen Elizabeth had three actresses who could have interchanged roles and I would have been no less confused. Or less excited.
Spolier alert: And the sex scene in the car. Give me a break. Wholly unnecessary and rather vulgar. And I'm far from prudish.
I don't think I napped during any part of it, but I might have.
Oh, and I can't recall how long it has been since I gave any film one star.
