Review of Hyde Park on Hudson (2012) by Ming Siu G — 27 Feb 2013
An entertaining little film. I probably like it more than most. It is a very pleasant, well-shot movie set in a pleasant time and place. The sexual appetites of FDR (especially for cousins) seems out of place here; and cheating on your mistress with your secretary isn't the sin that should be focused on.
The visit by the King and Queen though interesting was ultimately of little importance. While FDR had a keen interest in getting us into WWII the rest of America very much did not, and no number of hot dogs was about to change that.
Still, a fun film with great performances all around.
