Review of Hyde Park on Hudson (2012) by Adrian Z — 31 Mar 2013
There are lots of moments of humorous, laugh-out-loud awkwardness in this gentle, light account of King George's visit with FDR, as seen through the eyes of one of FDR's mistresses (Linney). Murray is inspired as FDR, encapsulating warmth, humour, and fragility; Samuel West as King George has good chemistry with Murray on screen.
Linney, on the other hand, is a little too flat and inexpressive. One almost wishes one could sweep her story under the carpet and focus more on the politics of the event.
