Sure, there are some fun moments in this film, and J-Lo is great, but there is absolutely NO substance to this film. There's no real crisis, there's not much at stake, and Constance Wu is utterly ill-equipped to carry the film as the lead.
I loved her in Crazy Rich Asians, but she doesn't do much for his hollowed-out story. I hadn't realized that this was based on a newspaper article, but it makes perfect sense. It's light-weight. About a third of my theater left before it was over.
