Review of Hustle & Flow (2005) by Nathan H — 27 Apr 2008
Terrance Howard is my new hero. His pimp-rapper character is one of the greatest movie anti-heroes of the past twenty years. You love him, you hate him, you can't stop watching him and cheering for him.
And Ludacris' "Skinny Black" rapper character is equally aggravating and understandable. An extremely rich film with a meticulously crafted story arc that immerses you in the gritty street life of Memphis, from drug dealing to prostitution to rapping to fighting.
Great flick.
