About a third of this movie worked well for me. Good scenes between the pimp and his blonde ?ho? and his bottom woman. Good music and good scenes about making music. Great scene in a church with a big black woman singing gospel?unbelievably great.
Good acting by the two music guys, the piano player and the producer/engineer. Good acting by most of the actors. But the overall story didn?t work for me; I never bought into it. The music was much better than eminem?s (MNM?s) music in ?8 Mile.
? Great scenes when they record the pimp?s songs. The ups and downs?the reversals?seemed contrived. I?d give it a C+.
