Review of Husk (2011) by Japes . — 30 Sep 2011
Husk would be a lot better if the plot wasn't so forced. Husk is about a group of kids who get in a car accident in the middle of nowhere in a corn field.
The kids first of all are very dumb. I'm not sure what possessed them to do any of the idiotic things they did. It didn't make sense; there was no logic behind their actions.
The plot itself seemed forced into place, and it wasn't explained at all. The geeky kid started seeing visions out of nowhere. You knew he was going to live for a while because the plot obviously needed to use him in order to tell the backstory of the corn field. That made the movie very predictable because you knew the plot couldn't go further without him. The other boy, Brian lost his girlfriend and started to go crazy, so you knew his dead girlfriend would somehow lead to his demise (*SPOILER* which it did). And the last boy, Brandon or whatever, was a selfish jerk, so you knew karma would get him sooner or later. The plot definitely needed to be fixed in order for the movie to work.
