Review of Husbands and Wives (1992) by Dimitris L — 07 Apr 2009
I really enjoyed Woody Allen's take on relationships in this film. I felt more sensitivity in the characters than his other films. I also enjoy movies that rely heavily on dialogue and character development, and I think that's why this one stood out from the beginning.
The hand-held camera and rough edits kept the film at a quicker pace, but added to the believability. Top-notch acting by all, but particularly Judy Davis. I was completely drawn in to her character Sally, and knew exactly what she was feeling inside during all of her interactions.
This one will probably appeal to more sophisticated audiences, but I would definitely recommend at least viewing it once.
