How is everyone doing on this beautiful Friday morning?

Ahhh...that's nice (Yes, I'm blindly assuming you are doing 'fine').

::breathes in fresh autumn air::

Wow, that makes it sound like I got laid last night or something, but that hardly is the case. I'm not even in a very good mood, that just sounded like a nice introduction (which is now ruined by my rambling tangent). Anyway...

Every day in Philosophy class my mind opens up. I'll sit and listen and random thoughts will pop into my head. Some bear some relevance to the philosophy we are discussing and some are totally unexpected thoughts. The problem is, when I leave the classroom, I forget about half of the important questions that lingered in my mind for an hour during class. Now I've learned to write down many things in my notebook. The victim of my forgetfulness is my hand and my notebook. My notebook is a mess because when relevant quotes or realizations pop into my head, I throw them on the paper any place I can. Yes, that means in the corners, upside down and mostly in little seperated boxes so they will not get mixed up with my notes. If I could take a picture of my notebook, I would (and I will when I get my new digital camera). My friend Sam laughs at me all the time in that class because I'm always writing and my notebook is such a mess. Anyway, one day I will flip back through my notebook and write down all of my realizations and questions for you to see. At some point, I think I'm going to write a paper on it for the class anyway.

One more Woody film down, about 15 more to go. How many films did this man make? That is not to say I don't enjoy watching his films but I am going to spend a lifetime trying to finish his filmography. Regardless, it is always great to come upon one of his lesser known movies and have it be very good. Husbands and Wives dissects marriage and offers answers as to why they sometimes end in divorce. I can't say first hand how realistic the film is, seeing as how I have never been married, but even judging by the teen romances I've encountered, I'd say it was surprisingly accurate. The film can almost be seen as an analysis of the portion of the human psyche that deals with relationships. All of the acting is top notch, as is the insightful script. The cinemotography was as shaky and splotchy as the relationships in the film. Plus, it is always nice to see successful and intelligent people fuck up. Everyone is infallible, especially when it comes to making decisions in marriage. B+.

My favorite line was delivered by the ditsy and half-witted Sam when referring to Kurosawa's Ran:

"I thought that play was called King Leo. Well, I do know one thing, Shakespeare spoke English, not Japanese!".

Her empty rant about astronomy and how it controls us was also rather pretentiously entertaining.

My school showed Troy this past Tuesday for free, so I felt obligated to go. What can I say, I loved Homer's epics and I was curious. and what did curiousity do to the cat? Yeahh...

It turns out, they project VHS on the big screen. How much crap is that? I seriously couldn't even make out the faces when it wasn't a close up shot (I'm exaggerating of course, but it was ridiculous!).

When I got back I jotted down these notes:

Extremely fluffy considering the material
"Tiss", Achilles says as a witty retort
Goodness gracias, great balls of fire
"Take your stale dialogue, it is yours!"
What/who are these ?gods? they speak of?
Achilles kills a legion and then pauses in battle so he can stare back with a feigned chilling look.
Umm...what?
Cliff Notes light
Inaccuracies can be somewhat overlooked if it had been inaccurate for a reason, but it wasn't
Generic Hollywood trite
It has the sex scenes, but not the sexiness
Homer is rolling in his grave
Pitt was well cast as the arrogant "celebrity" at the time, Bloom was well cast as the pussy. The performances...not so well.
The movie: C-
My film channel at school had Fahrenheit 9/11 on the schedule for 10:00 last night and my roommate and I ordered food and had planned to watch it. With our greasy chinese food in hand we sat and watched a black screen for 15 minutes before shutting it off. The obvious answer would be that someone just forgot to put in the tape but I'm starting to think there is a conspiracy behind this.

::shifts eyes::

On that note, I'm going to try and download the Kerry movie sometime. Allt he servers seem to be busy at the moment. I might just wait for the DVD in two weeks.

Oh...and chinese food is fuckin' disgusting. Remind me to never go near it again.

I'm going into Philly this weekend with my roommate and his girlfriend (ahem...ex-grilfriend, I mean). I'm going to try and drag them to I ♥ Huckabees. Correction: I WILL drag them. He actually wants to see it and she does what he tells her to. Isn't that convenient for me how that works.

I'm going to visit my brother next weekend. As I did last year, I'm probably going to get wasted. I need to brace myself because his parties are usually hardcore. Yes, I just used the word hardcore, don't mock me. Anyway, last year was my first (and only) occurence puking my guts out due to excessive drinking. I am just not a barfer. There is this awesome Hibachi steakhouse that we usually go to named Osho and I just said to my brother, "That food was so good that I was sad to see it sprayed all over your bathroom wall".

I'll leave you all with that pleasant image and happy thought. Adios.
