Review of Husbands and Wives (1992) by Ben W — 05 Sep 2008
I simply cannot get over how incredible woody allens writing is. it really is sensational. he has such an understanding of how things go in conversation and not just any conversation but all types. and his characters are so distinct, so subtle and nuanced.
this is certainly on the upper end of all of his films. I cant even fathom the fact that there could be anyone in this world who doesnt get completely involved with this movie. pollack and davis fill the screen with the drama of their relationship and it seems to me that as a whole the film really does say something imperative about relationships.
the mockumentary approach adds to an interesting take and makes look at the film and genuinely consider and evaluate what we agree and dont agree with it. do yourself a favor and see this one.
