Review of Hunter Killer (2018) by David S — 27 Oct 2018
The Hollywood elitists really don't want you to see this movie, and they don't want this type of movie to be made anymore. That is the only possible conclusion I can come to for this movie to be rated R and to have a 36% rating from the critics, because this is a great movie.
It should never have been rated R because there are less than a handful of swear words, no sexual scenes and violence which is less than what is routinely on TV or a game of Halo. The movie is reminiscent of old time war movies with a good plot and pacing and heroes who are not conflicted.
Elements of the movie were similar to The Hunt for Red October and The Enemy Below. There were other scenes that recalled the action from Lone Survivor. Please see this movie if you can. I suspect that the Hollywood types will get their way and this movie will get undeservedly buried under bad press, but I hope that good word of mouth will be able to propel it.
Please don't hesitate to bring your kids. This movie is PG-13 if that. I brought my 11 and 13 year olds to this movie, and they loved it.
