Review of Hunter Killer (2018) by Dj I — 29 Oct 2018
I have to admit, I was expecting a B level type production but this film is waaaaay better than I thought it would be. A tight, fast paced script and plot that doesnt waste time or insult your intelligence either.
Quality battle scenes both on land and at sea and plenty of tension and drama to keep you invested. Yes, it does borrow from some of the genre's classics aka Hunt for Red October/Crimson Tide/ Lone Survivor but those films are straight up conflicts and you know the boundaries.
This one is a bit more complex as several ethical dilemmas muddy the waters and create options that under normal circumstances would not be available. Overall, a fun flick that I definitely recommend.
Ignore the critics as once again, they're bought and paid for. No friendly fire deaths? Americans AND some Russians are the good guys? A female Hillary look a like President reminding them of their Trump Derangement Syndrome? They'd rather die than see that.
