Review of Humpday (2009) by Daniel S — 20 Jun 2009
Brave, poignant, original, and everything else an indie film should be. Joshua Leonard, Mark Duplass, and Alycia Delmore act with complete naturalism, a rare talent. The handheld cinematography combined with the creative energy from the constant improvisation makes the relationships feel genuine and real.
This realism is what makes the film as painfully awkward as it is painfully funny. A remarkable exercise in recognizing and transcending homophobia with comedic precision, Humpday is something for filmmakers to be proud of.
