Review of Humpday (2009) by Ryan W — 11 Feb 2010
This movie could have been interesting. It bills itself as very edgy, but is in fact, incredibly lame. The marriage relationship is pretty lame, the character are lame. The hippies are authentic, I've known these people many times. The protagonists though are all standard issue lame people. The entire movie is melodramatic conversations which might be interesting if they hadn't been had already by everyone before age 16.
Plus, straight guys having sex on film? That happens ALL THE TIME, its not interesting. This might have had some potential as a tale of sexual discovery (which, while not original, would be more interesting than mumblecore melodrama).
The moral of the story is the characters found out they were both phonies who are both way more lame then they ever imagined.
