Review of Humpday (2009) by Maria V — 30 Jun 2010
The concept of the "bromance" has takin' a whole new level of weird thanks to Lynn Shelton's "Humpday". The plot is simple, too best friends from college meet up years later, one's married, the other is still that same old wild and crazy guy.
One night at a party, with a bunch of open minded hippies if you will, they decide to partake in an "art porn film project" starring the two of them...doing...each other. It sounds stupid, I know, but give this movie a chance.
It's a very funny & sweet little indie comedy from Seattle, with some of the best improv acting I've seen in a while. The ending is a bit of a let down, mainly because I called how it would end, and the last moment right before it hits the credits it felt like, "What? We're ending here?" The ending was the weakest link to this movie, but everything else about it, is pretty spot on.
Love the camera work, in this movie, I generally love all indie-style camera work. But, check this movie out, it's worth a viewing, even with your closest buddy.
