Review of Hulk (2003) by Anthony R — 22 Oct 2012
The theatrical debut of our (*excessively* bright and bulky) eponymous beast features overly stylized "comic book" editing and transitions, sketchy acting and some poorly-written dialogue. However, the biggest flaw is that it's simply hard to stay awake through, with tons of exposition.
The movie pretentiously wallows in family drama and science, includes prolonged shots of unnecessary elemental/biological footage, the Bruce-Betty-General dynamic is overdeveloped, the Talbot character could have been deleted entirely, and the titular character first appears 42 minutes in.
The scene that really sums up "Hulk" is when he has escaped an underground lab and he is flying through the air in the desert in one big leap, smiling with the wind blowing all around him and sweeping African drum music playing.
You're making this more deep and philosophical than anyone needs is to be.
