The Hulk just looked way too fake. The Edward Norton reboot was a step in the right direction, but I think Hulk is just too hard of a character to get looking photo realistic with today's technology.
I guess he looked best in 'Avengers'. It also didn't help that Ang Lee wasn't really interested in making an action film.
