Review of Hulk (2003) by Henry P — 12 Apr 2013
Spectacular shot at a Hulk movie Ang Lee, really. Before I praise and drool over this movie, I wanna make a few things clear: There were pointlessly inserted panels, and a cheesy effect here and there.
I don't see the point of all the needless transitions with panels fading in and out of certain shots. Was it supposed to make it a real "comic book" movie? Mindlessly moving like a comic book? Secondly, this one shot of an explosion had a white line outline some character's body.
Come on, I expect that kind of thing from Smosh, or some other internet videos, but that's just ridiculous in a Comic Book movie. With that out of the way, Hulk is actually a good movie. It has Danny Elfman scoring it, a real win, and the Hulk looks incredible on screen once he's fully revealed, and not shown in flickers of shots.
Overall, if you want a comic book movie, this one has a great plot, and noble intentions. It was just executed in the wrong way.
