Review of Hulk (2003) by Josh K — 21 Dec 2013
With all honesty, I enjoyed this film. Sure there's not a lot of action and at times it changes a lot from the source, but it still works as a great popcorn film. Primarily styled in the form of a comic book, the film follows Bruce Banner who transforms into the Hulk during a dangerous experiment.
He must than do battle with the military and his father, while trying to protect his girlfriend. Eric Bana delivers a good performance as Banner, while Nick Nolte is all menace as the father. The other actors are also great, including Jennifer Connelly, Sam Elliot and Josh Lucas.
The special effects are fantastic, especially the first transformation, as is Danny Elfman's somber score. The film ends slightly on a cliffhanger which works perfectly. The film does a fine job and also works perfectly alongside its 2008 reboot, The Incredible Hulk.
