Review of Hugo (2012) by Molly H — 21 Dec 2012
Seemingly endless, oddly spacey, and almost no logical succession of events, Hugo did not live up to it's incredible potential. The film meanders from story line to story line, never really bothering to explore any of them.
The actors (aside from Hugo) are unremarkable and lacking in talent, especially the little girl that looks eerily like Emma Watson...In all honesty, the last forty minutes could make up the entire film.
It is an extreme shame that a story with such a magical and potentially great groundwork was subject to ambiguous screenwriting. If the plot and writing had been tighter, Hugo truly would have been a fantastic film.
