Review of Hugo (2012) by Frank C — 01 Jan 2014

I'm quite aghast as to how this movie has such a high critical acclaim. Plodding, poorly paced, and for the most part uneventful, Hugo reminds me of a beautiful, complex painting of fruit in a bowl: gorgeous and serene to look at but with absolutely no depth that isn't predictable.

Admittedly the first half is quite intriguing, but by the hour and 30 minute mark, I was falling asleep. I guess I just don't get it.
