Review of Hugo (2012) by Kyle C — 30 Jul 2014
Being an absolute sucker for old black and white movies, there should be no surprise that Hugo is one of my favorite movies. It is fun and absolutely gorgeous to look at. Who knew Scorsese could produce such an amazing, child-friendly film.
This movie is like a love letter to old classic movies. The story is focused on Hugo as he discovers a secret left behind by his dead father. The characters are just as good as the visuals, each one being interesting and colorful. Each actor portrays their role perfectly. There is no person left unnoticed in this movie. Their scenes create emotions without shoving down your throat. Everything feels natural, despite everything being so visually enhanced.
What else can I say? I love this movie and I hope that this movie brings back the rated G Oscar-nominated movies that have seemingly been absent over the past few years. This is one love-filled masterpiece.
10/10 Perfect.
