Review of Hugo (2012) by Kevin F — 15 Feb 2015
Did Martin Scorsese direct this whimsical fable? Of course he did and he did it in a non-Scorsese's style. The pace is a little slow and windy for my liking but the storytelling is faultless like a textbook on movie making.
Particularly impressive is the cinematography that makes every frame so endearing with its richness. The music score evokes nostalgic poignancy. The movie looks like a family film but the message will only be understood by the adults.
