Review of Hugo (2011) by Byron C — 17 May 2013
All at once magical and nostalgic, Hugo evokes a feeling of wonder and longing for the days when people dressed well and science was magic. The plot was not perfect, but the acting and art direction more than made up for it.
The intricately designed French-themed sets, costumes, and machines were mind-boggling. You'll appreciate the fact that this film does not have that annoying boy-falls-in-love-with-girl plot so common in many children's movies.
