Review of Hugo (2011) by Mark J — 01 Mar 2013
I finally thought Scorsese might actually had made a movie worth sitting through. I was wrong. Like all Scorcese movies, technically brilliant but w-a-y overlong and more style over substance, with a hollowness at it's core. This time, however, he doesn't have violent flamboyant criminals to divert the viewer's attention away Based on an outstanding book, the movie is so-so with a fairly annoying supporting performance by Sasha Baron Cohen looking like a demented, physically handicapped Freddy Mercury.
One question: if this takes place in Paris, why does everyone have an English accent?
