Review of Hugo (2011) by Don S — 23 May 2014
Quite a departure for Scorsese, going from mob movies to a family film with a PG rating. That isn't to say I was thrilled by it, because I wasn't. The story relies hugely on coincidence or "fate" in a majority of its main plot points.
Cohen;s character is boorish, while the remainder of the cast is bland. The story seems to exist just to get to the homage to the nascent film industry, which would have been better served by a documentary.
