Review of Hugo (2011) by Joe D — 07 Feb 2013
."Hugo" is a fictionalized account of a real-life silent film pioneer, Georges Méliès, as seen from perspective of a young boy. While the plot starts slowly, it unfolds and comes together through beautiful imagery.
Actors Ben Kingsley and Sacha Baron Cohen ("Borat") act outstandingly and convincingly. I suspect that due to its predictable appeal to filmmakers, "Hugo" may sway members of the Academy to award it Best Picture .
. . but for the general movie-going public, "Hugo" is a still a winner. See it in 3D.
