Review of Hugo (2011) by Gavin M — 01 Jan 2015

This is another masterpiece by Martin Scorsese. I don't know how he does it, but Scorsese always gets the best performances out of his actors as everyone like in all of Scorsese's movies bring their A game to this movie especially Ben Kingsley, who should have been recognized for his performance in this movie and should have at least been nominated for Best Supporting Actor as he gives one of his all time best performances in this movie. Sacha Baron Cohen also gives great comic relief as the Station Inspector. But I also can't leave out Asa Butterfield and Chloe Grace Moretz who light up the screen with their performances, especially Asa Butterfield who really should have got at least an Oscar Nomination for Best Actor as he truly carries this movie with his performance for such a young actor. Chloe Grace Moretz too for her age is absolutely incredible she has so much potential as a young actress that I really look forward to seeing her in future movies because I truly believe in her potential to be a great actress. It was also nice to see Emily Mortimer, Christopher Lee, Michael Stuhlbarg and Ray Winstone make small appearances in the movie as well. This is such a glamorous movie to watch that watching it made me realize that there is no question about it that Martin Scorsese will go down in history as one of the greatest artists that has ever lived and it is such a shame he only has one Oscar attached to his name that he rightfully deserved for "The Departed," and he was nominated for Best Director for this movie, but I think Scorsese should be nominated and win for everything he does because he truly, TRULY is the best director that has ever lived.
