Review of Hugo (2011) by Advocate — 26 Dec 2011
The movie was overall sappy and slow. I took a young girl about the same age as the one in the movie, and there was no connection felt by her to that character. I can tell that the content of the movie meant a lot personally to Scorsese; he did an excellent job of transmitting his personal zest for the old films shown in the movie.
You could see him romanticize some personal childhood experiences quite well.
