Review of Hugo (2011) by Harvey S — 08 Oct 2013
A magical, heart-felt fantasy with charmingly sweet performances from the relative newcomers to the seasoned veterans, and is a wonderful tribute to Georges Méliès and how he revolutionized the very early days of cinema with imagination and creativity.
Hugo is a beautiful and stylistically bold picture told masterfully by one of cinema's brilliant artists, Martin Scorsese. It's one of the best films of 2011 and one that showcases the sheer powerful magic of the movies, family values and retreading on classic themes of always following your heart and to never give up on your dreams.
5/5 stars.
