Review of Hudson Hawk (1991) by Dan G — 26 Mar 2009
Hudson Hawk is a CRIMINALLY overlooked gem of a movie. It is apparent that even to this day, due people going into it believing it to be a high octane action movie, when they find instead that it is an oddball slapstick comedy they feel misled and decide they hated it.
Or at least that's why it was a critical bomb when it was first released. Anyways, this movie is full to bursting with innovative and hilarious concepts such as Bruce Willis and partner-in-crime Danny Aiello's coordinating the timing of their robberies with Rat Pack song and dance numbers.
The full cast is great. The villains: James Coburn, Richard E. Grant and Sandra Bernhard. That is just amazing and they are a wondrously zany group of people. Extra special treat of the film: David Caruso's bizarre non-speaking role of Kit-Kat the master of disguise.
Each time he pops up out of nowhere, it is an absolute delight. Who knew David Caruso had comedic chops?
