Review of Howl (2010) by Toby E — 23 Nov 2010
The highlight of this film is the way in which it helps you appreciate the poem itself. As a rather dense and enigmatic poem, I was never clear on what exactly Ginsburg was alluding to and what he was hoping that more distant (or future) readers could mine from his words.
In this film, the backstory of Ginsburg's personal life and his confessional interviews coupled with the animation actually present a strong visual overtone and reveal perhaps the intended "big-picture" message.
It's just a great compilation of Ginsburg source material and criticism, as portrayed by some esteemed actors.
