Review of Howl (2010) by Jenny G — 02 Dec 2010
Amazing film revolving around the obscenity trial over Allen Ginsburg's "Howl". You can laugh at the stupidity of the prosecution's argument against the poem and marvel at the words of actual passages recited and the breathtaking animation (done by our friend Eric Drooker!) that accompany them.
The reenactment of Ginsburg's original reading of them poem is low-key compared to recordings of it (missing is Kerouac's incessant "Go man, go!" and Ginsburg's rise to a frenzy by the end) but still engaging enough to make me wish I was there.
