Review of Howl (2010) by Dickie L — 26 Mar 2011
At some point during Howl I realised I don't really like Beat poetry. The long stretches of verse reading in this did little for me and the accompanying animation was fairly unimaginative. Doco makers Friedman and Epstein have done great work in the past, and this is certainly a daring concept, but ultimately its a chore to watch.
Thankfully, the always wonderful Carter Burwell provides some aural respite with another gorgeous score.
