Review of Howards End (1992) by Dan R — 06 Sep 2011
I'm surprised by this, but this was my least favorite Merchant Ivory Forster adaptation. I preferred the films of room with a view and Maurice. This story just seemed kind of disjointed and lacked intrigues.
Emma Thompson won the Oscar for the film, and she is good but she has been better many times since. I actually preferred Helena Bonham Carter's performance as the sister.
