An interesting idea, and I have great childhood memories of it... but what the heck?! And the whole beastiality scene....?!?!?!
It suffered from what a lot of unsucccessful box office films did. Too adult for kids, too childish for adults. Sometimes these movies become classics, but whether or not Howard is one of them is certainly debatable.
The flying scene wasn't poorly done though.
