Review of Howard the Duck (1986) by Katy M — 30 Dec 2009
Ha! This movie is terrible, but I loved it. It can't possibly be recommended to anyone over 14...maybe 11...or 7? I don't know whose attention it could hold, but movies like this have to be made to keep the world from being too sane.
Lucas went for it because the comics were surprisingly well done and very good (yes... I know that's hard to believe). If nothing else, he shows (as others have) that quality printed material is not always good fodder for film making.
I like it, but for all the wrong reasons. It should be on every film student's list because from concept through to fruition, it an educational nightmare in film.
George Lucas - I'm proud of you, man, and glad you did it.
