Review of Howard the Duck (1986) by Jordan B — 17 Jun 2010
I can't believe I'm saying this, having made fun of this movie incessantly for the past ten years (after watching the first ten minutes and turning it off in disbelief), but I actually had fun watching this movie.
And that is, after all, the point. Much as we get caught up in analyzing the craft of a film, if it wasn't entertaining what was the point? Lea Thompson was her usual self, which is to say she was good.
Jefferey Jones.....cracked me up. Sometimes unintentionally. His evil demon self was comical at the first, not the least in the restaurant. At the end of the day, I'm still astounded that this ever got made, let alone that Lucas put his name on it.
But it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be......although the almost-sex-scene between Howard and Beverly was almost terrifying!
