Review of Howard the Duck (1986) by Daniel V — 07 Apr 2015
When Howard was getting blasted by critics and fans in 1985, George Lucas told the filmmakers and producers not to worry because in 20 years, it will be considered a masterpiece. Well it's almost 30 years later and while it is in no way a masterpiece, HOWARD THE DUCK is waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than it is given credit for.
It's fucking hilarious and tons of fun. The performances are so underrated. Jeffrey Jones and Tim Robbins are a hoot. Lea Thompson is so damn hot and such a sweet, adorable person that she had sexy cute down pat in the 80s.
Which is why no one questioned her little dalliance in incest in the great, incomparable Back to the Future. Who wouldn't want to make out with her?! Ed Gale is still the voice I hear in my head when I read Howard and now he is back.
In movies, see his Guardians of the Galaxy post credit stinger. More importantly, he's back in print, which he should never leave.
