Review of Howard the Duck (1986) by John P — 12 Apr 2012
A long time ago, a young film maker named George Lucas helped created a dimension that - - okay, Iâ??m just gonna say it, Howard the Duck. For all the strange things George Lucas has done whether it would be bad, unnecessary, or downright racist; nothing can compare to the cinematic bombshell that he made the strange choice of producing. If you think Jar Jar Binks was bad wellâ?¦he still is. But this is a creation that makes that character look like Brad Pitt.
In the film, Howard is brought to Cleveland by a laser spectroscope experiment gone awry, which also summoned an evil alien, one of the Dark Overlords of the Universe, who intended to sacrifice all human life in order to free the others of its kind from their celestial prison. The film was widely panned and was a box office bomb and boy were they right about that.
Long story short, this is the worst thing George Lucas has ever produced since anything that is non-Star Wars or Indiana Jones related. Apart from being silly, stupid, and surprisingly boring this movie is just plain mean spirited. Everything is shot in the dark, someone is always trying to kill him, and the characters development was rushed too quickly. I can see why actors Jeffery Jones and Lea Thompson never made it big in Hollywood and that is all thanks to HOWARD THE GODDAMN DUCK!!! Just remember these words of wisdom kids, â??Quack is whack.â??
