Review of Howard the Duck (1986) by Bearded M — 02 Apr 2014
This is a movie that you really need to be a kid to fully enjoy, yet there is a bunch of stuff that kids should not be seeing in the movie, such and Howard reading Playduck, a topless duck in the bath, and then there is the part where Howard gets a job at a message parlor/brothel? And don't even get me started on the bedroom scene with Howard and Beverly! What were the film makers thinking? Now again, saying all that, if you are a kid watching this, you will probably like it a lot.
I have very fond memories of watching this at least 4 times in two days with my friends and I all of us quoting it along the way. But as an adult watching this, it is pretty bad. It is kinda all over the place in tone and humor, and most of the effects look incredibly dated, but it still has its moments.
Overall I wouldn't recommend watching this unless you saw it as a kid (but you maybe surprised at how bad it is now) or you want to hang with your friends and make fun of a bad movie, which is always a good time, but other then that skip it.
Oh, and on a last note, it just seems funny that George Lucas was presenting this, kinda foreshadowed the rest of his movie career post the original Star Wars trilogy, just a thought.
