I watched this movie when I was a kid visiting my mum's place and I tell you what, this movie keeps you entertained.
I love it, it is so terrible that it is awesome. Up until today I never knew it was a comic before hand. I would be interested in reading what it should have resembled but I can honestly say that the movie Howard the Duck is a keeper. It will entertain you right the way through.
