Review of Howard the Duck (1986) by Chad H — 25 Feb 2013
I can't believe I actually sat through this entire film.. Well I would like to say its not as bad as people say it is actually. Its just very mediocre and very okay when you look at the grand scale here.
Its about a duck named Howard who is mysteriously shot out from his universe into ours and the rest of the plot involves his quest to find "home". I just wanna say this film reeks of the eighties, its got that 80's charm to it that we all know and love.
The actor who plays Howard is hilarious like really just watching him is entertaining. But my biggest gripe with this movie is why the hell was it ever made? Was the comic that popular that we had to have a movie adaptation? I would also like to say there are a few things in this film that should make this film PG-13 and I am referring to the Duck Tits.
.. why that was included I will never know. Anyways, the plot is cliche as all hell, the villain is insanely over the top and your classic bad guy just because who lacks depth. The characters act dumb and are there for comedic relief, and the movie has this problem where it just drags on with scene after scene just going on and on without anything happening.
Its good only for nostalgia and I only recommend this film for those cult movie fans, its full of that good stuff we all know and love. But I just do not like this movie overall, it suffers way to much from niches and cliches.
The only interesting thing is Howard and he is barely able to keep my attention but I give this movie four feathers out of ten. If you really want to see this notorious film then go for it but be warned.
