Review of Howard the Duck (1986) by David C — 14 Dec 2010
This movie is... wickedly strange.
I have been watching the films that are considered the worst ever lately. This is one of them. And I certainly understand why.
It is just to bad to be a live action. It would be passble if it was animated but someone had the brilliant idea to make it a live action. Do you know who it was? George Lucas. Yes! This movie starts with " George Lucas Presents".
The duck might be a little likeable ( a little) but it just have a really awful appearence. Furthermore, the screenplay is amazingly stupid. Some of the dialogue just doesn´t make sense. And when they put a duck kissing a girl, I know a movie has problems. You should go to shrink, " Howard the duck"!
A live action about a duck transported to earth. Seems odd, heh? Believe me, it is. ANd most of the performances are just bizarre and I mean in a bad way. For god sake Tim Robbins won an Oscar for Mystic River! how could he portray such a mentally retarded character? I really don´t know.
I think the idea is not a total faillure and the movie is not that horrible. You can watch it. You won´t like it but you can watch it.
It is not giantly bad, it just a really bad one. I don´t know what the "duck" were they thinking!
