Review of How to Train Your Dragon (2010) by Arielle S — 02 Feb 2014

After considering how I would possibly begin to explain why this movie earns 5 stars, I came up with this to say:

I was on an airplane on the way to Japan; the place I had been dreaming about visiting for almost a decade. Since I was faced with a 7 hour flight, I forced myself to see what was playing for movies: Toy Story 3 and How to Train Your Dragons. I had already seen Toy Story 3 but of COURSE I wanted to watch it because I am perhaps one of the biggest Pixar buffs out there. But then again, Dragons did intrigue me... at the very least I wanted to watch the adorable animated dragon named Toothless in action. I figured I'd watch this one once, then revert back once it started again.

I never got to Toy Story 3.

I was still crying and laughing after the 5th time. Even the .5th time because I was STILL watching it as we landed.

My rationalization for why I enjoyed this movie so much, was that Dreamworks FINALLY made a story congruent with what Pixar always does. I wont spoil ANY of it for those who have not seen this gem of a movie, because when you do see it, you too will understand. Trust me.

If that doesn't spell "success" then I have no idea...
