Review of How to Train Your Dragon (2010) by Jonnyfendi — 11 Jan 2011
Honestly, it is very hard for me to criticize animated films. Coz all camera angles, character expressions, body languages, and etc. are fully controllable by the maker. Thiz kind of movie also depends on whole divisions (the credit not just on director). Thiz movie made by Dream Works Team and directed by Disney LILO AND STITCH (2002) creators, Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders. The characters voiced by: Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Jonah Hill and America Ferrera. A Viking boy, named Hiccup learned how to be a warrior, instead of vanquished a dragon, they became friend. The dragon character which named Toothless appeared uniquely but likeable. Yes, it is entertaining but still on standard formula. The story relied on what I called Sport Formula, where zero to hero elements implied. The main character mostly described as nerd type and later becoming a savior for his surroundings. Plus the commonly ending by diiquieting moment, when we were waiting was Hiccup will going to survive and closed by cheer and applause. Although the flying scene is still thrill and excited. Yes, it is another CGI animation. Yes, it is another feel-good movie.
