Review of How to Train Your Dragon (2010) by Russell G — 09 Mar 2014
The story is an extremely simple boy and his pet scenario, only in this case, the pet is a dragon and the boy is a Viking. Despite a plot that is about as deep as a puddle, it does pull at your heartstrings and make you smile.
Some entertaining action sequences and thrill ride tactics help make up for lack of content. Toothless, the dragon does not talk but still has a lot of personality. He effectively conveys emotions through his endearing expressions and mannerisms.
The voice-work of Jay Baruchel is fitting for an unpopular weak bodied underdog type of character. Craig Ferguson also offers good voice-work. It is not groundbreaking, but both adults and children should enjoy it.
