Review of How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) by Joey V — 15 May 2015

I thought this movie was an improvement on an already nearly flawless first effort. It never felt slow, even the parts that could have felt slow did not because of strong characters and crisp meaningful dialogue.

The animation and action sequences were beautifully done and gave the movie an epic feeling. Though there are moments of true despair in which you feel for the characters which you have become so attached to.

The villain in this one was cool and felt menacing but he felt very bland and underdeveloped, as a result it is the only weak part of the film. This is a very strong film and it continues to prove that great animation can be made by non-Pixar studios.
